Today we published our CMP Annual Report for 2019. Our work over the past year reaffirmed just how many community members care deeply about the future of local news in Colorado. We also learned that newsrooms across the state ranging from legacy newspapers to digital startups are eager to build capacity, engage with community, and increase collaboration. The Colorado Media Project (CMP) is offering matching gifts of up to $5,000 per Colorado newsroom to help inspire more individuals to support homegrown, local Colorado news. In partnership with the national NewsMatch campaign, the CMP also will offer technical support and marketing toolkits for participating Colorado newsrooms.

At Colorado Migrahack, participants can find a treasure trove of materials on historic immigration in Colorado – such as records on waves of Jewish immigration to the region, including the Jewish Consumptives’ Relief Society (JCRS). It was a “charity sanatorium,” one of many such health care facilities created in the early 1900s to treat those with tuberculosis.
