Colorado Media Project’s Executive Committee and Press Forward Colorado Funder Table cordially invite community-based, statewide and national funders to join us on Thursday, August 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a day of learning, strategizing and inspiration. The day will spotlight innovative approaches that Colorado newsrooms are using to:
Fill community-identified news gaps — particularly in rural areas and among underserved populations — with independent journalism and civic information that supports healthy public engagement and accountability
Reach and engage more Colorado residents in civic issues and community conversations — online and in person
Create durable partnerships between Colorado newsrooms and trusted community-based orgs, in order to strengthen local news coverage and distribution channels — particularly for hardest-to-reach populations
From 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. we will have a special funder-only session of the CMP/Press Forward Colorado Funder Table, where national, statewide, regional, and topical funders can come together to discuss challenges and opportunities, and strategize for the future.
From Noon to 5 p.m. we will be joined by up to 150 journalists, educators and students, civic and community leaders, business leaders, and active residents for the invigorating 2024 CMP Summit. Last fall, CMP Summit attendees developed a five-year vision (attached) for a healthier local news and civic information ecosystem in Colorado; this year, we will discuss priorities, strategies and metrics to advance our collective vision.

NOTE: The 2024 CMP Summit is a special pre-conference session of the 146th Colorado Press Association Convention, and you are invited to stay with us on Aug. 22 from 5 to 6 p.m. for CPA’s legislative reception and awards. From 6 to 8 p.m. CPA is hosting a special ticketed event with Dan Harris, former ABC News anchor and author of the #1 NYT bestseller, 10% Happier.
