KVNF Community Radio has been serving the western slope of Colorado since 1979 with news programs from National Public Radio, local news, alternative news sources, and public affairs, and an eclectic mix of musical genres with an emphasis on independent recording artists. KVNF brings you a regional newscast weekdays Monday through Friday at 8 a.m. and 4:50 p.m. We also live host NPR’s Morning Edition with local updates in the breaks that inform listeners with live coverage. KVNF airs a 30 min. weekly public affairs show that takes a deeper look at issues facing our community.

Strategic priorities for the next 12–18 months

1. Replace our federal funding with 1/3,1/3,1/3 strategy from: Foundations, Current and New members by increasing Drive Goals, and Major Gifts.
2. Reimagine the organization and its programming/services beyond the FM broadcast service into the digital media future. We are becoming a trusted and reliable source for regional news, giving a voice to the voiceless, and connecting diverse communities across the Western Slope.
3. Establish a solid and sustainable financial position for the organization into the future with proper reserves, investments, and an endowment.

We are navigating a twenty percent budget cut from the Federal funding recission. This comes just as we are launching our three year strategic plan to expand and improve our coverage of the rural communities we serve in Western Colorado. Many important topics in these communities are left unreported today.

– We are excited to expand and improve our coverage in Montrose and Ouray Counties.
– We applied for a Report For America reporter that will help us add capacity, but only if we are able to match the RFA salary and sustain it into the future.
– We are also excited about moving our audience beyond the FM Dial and expanding our support base, especially in Montrose County. This audience expansion includes sharing content via, video, podcasts, and in-person events.
