“This is one of the best things that has happened to local news in Colorado in the past 10 years. It's exciting and inspiring to work with people -- real people, not just journalists -- who are focused how to strengthen the journalism ecosystem.”
“To my dad the importance of the press was not some academic matter. So I know that he’d feel I am continuing his work in my new role as acting director of the Colorado Media Project.”
In a first-ever joint appeal to readers, local newsrooms raised nearly $50,000 in a single day for local news. A $1,500 challenge grant from the Colorado Media Project to each outlet was doubled, tripled, and even quadrupled by local and national donors and foundations — filling newsroom coffers to ensure more and better local journalism in 2019.
